Exploring the Wonders of Masada and the Dead Sea, April 2
Our Adventure to Masada
Today, we embarked on an incredible journey to Masada, the ancient fortress that stands tall against the backdrop of the desert. Known for its historical significance, Masada is where Jewish rebels made their last stand against the Romans in 73 AD. As we approached the site, the grandeur of the fortress left us in awe. Riding the cable car to the summit, we couldn't help but feel the weight of history surrounding us. Masada is from King Herod's era of palaces, fortresses, and bath houses. The walls of Masada are marked with black lines: below the lines are the stone walls that archeologists found, having arrived here in 1960, and above the lines is what has been added to recreate the buildings. History has it written that a woman found a date pit here, took it home, and grew a date palm tree, the beginning of date palm tree plantings in Jericho. The main palace is a mix of Roman and Greek architecture which is a statement of "who I am" by King Herod.
